It's hard to overestimate how important even the smallest architectural products can be to a building's design.
For instance, while curtains may seem like a small detail, Locker Group's wire mesh curtains can add texture and character to a space, transforming a boring or unsightly room into one that appeals to the senses.
It's this passion for what architectural products have to offer that was behind the Australian Institute of Architects' decision to launch a new foundation intended to better promote architecture and design to the public.
"A foundation supporting the development of architecture is a fresh concept for Australia. Previously, other art sectors have been the major recipients of cultural philanthropy, however architecture, having the capacity for direct and positive impact on the future of our cities and urban spaces, should also be nurtured through philanthropic assistance," said Edmund Capon, former director of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, in a March statement.
Mr Capon will chair the foundation, which will undertake a number of initiatives that cover everything from fundraising to scholarships and education programs.
In the same release, CEO of the Australian Institute of Architects David Parken touched on the importance of architecture in today's world.
"Architecture and design is a vital pillar of community wellbeing, and to ensure continued improvement of the quality of our built environments, we must develop outreach programs and initiatives to generate purposeful conversations about the benefit of good design," he said.
Locker Group is dedicated to providing our clients with high-quality architectural products that not only serve practical needs, but also add beauty and design options to buildings.
From our Pic-Perf perforated metal to our woven wire range, we're proud to offer a plethora of architectural and design options to suit any need.
